Phalsa- Indian sherbet berry - Grewia asiatica or G. subinaequalis
Small growing tree/shrub from the Himalayas. Has grey , rough bark & drooping branches.
Grows well both in tropical & subtropical climates- but fruits heavily in regions with distinct summer & winter seasons.
The ripe fruits are eaten as dessert or made up as a refreshing drink in the summer time which is considered as a delicacy.
Also has excellent medicinal uses. Said to alleviate inflammation. Helps with respiratory & cardiac disorders among others, Rich in vitamin C & anti-oxidants.
Easy to grow- medium water needs
Very heat tolerant
In hot areas, best in partial sun.
Mature height: 10-16ft
Cold hardiness: zone 9
Currently growing in 4" pot- Second picture is of average size plant for sale.
Shipped potted where remitted
Gone dormant for the year- will break dormancy late January early February- will not ship dormant unless requested
