Alpinia zerumbet - Shell ginger -
This easy to grow ginger is native to East Asia. In frost free areas it is evergreen.
It is a rather large size ginger, up to 10 ft. tall. Has medium speedy clumping habit.
Blooms from mid spring to mid summer. In colder areas, blooms appear late spring, early summer. Flowers have pearly sheen to them. Check out all the pictures

Leaf blades are used for wrapping traditional Chinese zonzi dish.
